Cracked 3.0L block
Hi Everyone
I’m looking for more information about my Diablos motor, I have a 1993 Mariah Diablo 3.0L inboard with the Yamaha stern drive it has less than a 100 hours on it that I got from my grandfather. It’s been stored in a boat house it’s entire life and is in beautiful condition other than the last time it got taken out the motor wasn’t drained before winter which lead to a crack in the block so it’s been sitting for about 3 years. the exhausts off the engine have Yamaha stamped on them but after searching I can’t seem to find any information about a Yamaha 3.0L so I’m curious if I can track down a 3.0L mercruiser would that bolt up all the same? And how hard would it be to do a motor swap myself? I’m going to the lake this weekend and I’ll try get some photos Thanks! |
Re: Cracked 3.0L block
I believe they are the same blocks. You might have to switch over the electrical, carb setup and some other things, but from my research they are the same blocks.

Re: Cracked 3.0L block
You should be able to use a Merc block with the rest of your Yamaha accessories. The block and heads are actually made by GM.
