Suggestions on 1999 Mariah Jubilee 204 deckboat
I've recently moved to a lake, own a slip and in the market for a boat. I'm a first time boat owner so I know nothing and need all the help I can get. I have a friend that is a big believer in the Mariah quality. The subject boat is being sold for $16,500 with just over 500 hrs on the engine. The seller has agreed to fix the RPM gauge. I would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations. What questions should I ask? What should I look for if I go see the boat? Is the price fair? I plan to store the boat on a lift at my slip. I'm concerned I don't have the truck to pull this boat (2006 Toyota Tacoma V6, 3500 lb towing capacity). How often should I anticipate taking this boat out of the water to have it serviced? Thanks in advance!

You're right about one thing. You dont have the truck to pull that boat safely. A Mariah 204 weighs 3300 lbs dry. Add the trailer / fuel / accessories and you are way over 3500 lbs. With that truck, your limit would be an 18 or 19ft (maybe) Mariah.
As for servicing.... I'm not sure where you are located but you will likely need to pull it out every fall for winterizing & storage. And then more often if things go wrong. That said, this one looks to be well maintained. As for the trim gauge not working, that is a common problem with most boats that have Alpha 1 outdrives. The trim sensor is mounted on the outdrive and wired thru the bellows into the trim pump & on to the throttle switch. Its a pita to change and for most it means removing the outdrive to do so. Many owners dont bother with changing the sensor and just drive by 'feel'. The horn is usually just a blown fuse or a poor ground. Thanks! That is a very helpful reply. I am located in the upstate of South Carolina on Lake Hartwell. I would plan on storing the boat at my slip on a lift. Would I be able to access the components that needs winterized on a lift? The only time I would plan on taking the boat out of water would be for service. I have a nephew that lives nearby and is a boat owner. Maybe I could con him into using his truck. Thanks again for the response and the link on Buying a Used Mariah.
