Small portable generator installation - 98 Mariah Z280 7.4l Bravo 3

I am curious if anyone here has considered the portable installation of a small 50lb portable generator (Honda series) for A/C and other appliance usages while on the boat go. I have studied this carefully (carbon minoxcide posioning, location, etc...) but thought I might get other views and insight in this area. My biggest desire is to offer cool air in the the cabin area for my wife, kids and grandkids during the day on those hot 85 and 90 degree days while keeping everyone safe and comfortable and me boating in joy.. And thank you all kindly for your considerations. Rider7

I have considered just what you are proposing. Aside from the carbon monoxide issue I was always concerned about the vibration and noise. Built in marine generators exhaust under water and typically are shrouded in a noise reducing cover. There is also the security issue. I have heard stories thefts in the middle of the night.

I put a Yamaha 2000 watt generator on the swim platform (tied to the grab bars) and a 5000 btu window A/C in the cabin door. Works mint. I've got two CO2 detectors in the cabin and have never had one go off from the gen.
