Got to fix the passenget seat....

...Well at least no one was hurt too bad...

Went camping at Lake Berryessa last weekend and on Saturday, the thermometer was climbing towards 106F ! :eek_animated:

So into the water the Talari went and we were off for some major water sports!!!

After a half an hour of us trying to wake board and ski, out came the towables… specifically my latest toy, an 80” tube I purchased from Overtons while on sale. So off we go with a couple of victims, err, I mean friends in tow and after running up the lake a bit I decided it was time for some real fun. So I started to hooked a series of lefts and rights to swing the tube around a bit.

A couple of minutes later while I was pulling another left, we caught a wake from another boat and it caused the Talari to hook around harder than normal. All of a sudden, my wife clips me in the shoulder as she goes flying past me towards the floor right behind me!

At first, I thought she was thrown from her seat till I realized she was still in the seat and they were both on the floor. It turns out that the entire left edge of the seat spider had sheared off and away went the seat, wife and all...

Well the good thing is, neither one of us was hurt too badly and the seat is repairable. Our bruises will heal in time and I just need to order a new spider for the seat and mount it.

You can bet I’ll be checking the driver’s mount and both pedestals for any signs of fatigue.

Here’s what the passenger seat spider looks like now (top to bottom, seat spider, lip, nylon bushing for seat track):

It's a wonder the lip held for so long, it has four cracks plus two tears from when it broke off (If you look next to the very fine red lines, you can make out the cracks and tears).

OOOO Ouch!!! While it definitely sucks, these things are bound to happen, they can't stay strong forever! Keep us all updated with the replacement, and good luck with it! :wink_thumbup:

Glad to hear that no one was hurt also!!

Going to document the progress as well..? :D

I will definitely document the repair, although it is pretty straight forward. :wink_thumbup:

Hmmm ...

Duct tape the seat to the floor and wait for winter to work on it? :rolling_laugh:

your wife must like you....I'm surprised she didn't get up and beat you with the broken seat!

But I'm glad to hear things turned out ok for you. Could always be worse!

Well once we all figured out what happened, we all had a good laugh and that's when I almost put my foot into my mouth! I almost made a little joke about how "weight" may have been a factor... :eek_animated:

Thank God, that was one time I kept my big fat mouth shut or I might still be in the ICU ward replying to this thread! :p

Besides, she only keeps me around cause sometimes I can fix things and I take out the garbage..... :D

Not only would she have beaten you with the seat, but you would have been swimming back to shore, just to be able to call for an ambulance to take you to the hospital!
