Talari 210 5.0L performance/top speed question
Hello,
I have recently purchased this boat and have some general questions about performance. The first time on the lake I could not get over 8MPH. This was due to a loose distributor cap and timing being WAY off. After getting it adjusted properly the boat would hit 28MPH. I know there is a lot of variables to speed however, does this seem to be in the right ballpark for the 5.0L? |

what's the rpm at 28 mph. I don't have that motor so I'm guessing you need to be around 5000 rpm. someone with that power package will verify for you.

I will need to check that next time its on the lake, but i think it was 4000ish +-250 RPM. For sure not near 5000RPM.

The WOT for a 5.0 is 4400 to 4800 RPM, so you seem a little low. I do not have your boat or power package but I would expect speeds in the high 40's.

As Steve says, your WOT rpm range should be between 4400 and 4800 and you should have a top speed in the high 40's with that boat /motor combo. Prop for that motor should be a 19" pitch. One thing i would do to check that your tach is reading correctly is to access the back of the tach and spin that little wheel around 5-6 times then set it on "8 cyl". Based on what you're saying though, i suspect you have other issues that need to be investigated.
