Kill Switch Ringer Won't turn Off
While taking boat out for the first time I thought my hummingbird depth sounder was ringing for no reason. Yesterday in the driveway I went to disconnect the ringer from the depth sounder until I can get it fixed.
Turns out it was not the depth sounder ringer but the kill switch bell that rings when the lanyard is pulled out and the engine stops. The problem is mine rings when the lanyard for the kill switch is firmly in place and the boat is running. Turning in the motor on and off will quite the ringer for a bit then it comes on and is LOUD. I unplugged the bell. I assume I will need to get a whole kill switch assembly to fix. It is so crammed up under the steering wheel that I don't think I could do the replacement myself. Anyway, I unhooked the bell. I am not sure if the boat will run on the water with the bell disconnected. If so, I plan on using the boat without the bell until I know I can get it in and out of marina services as fast as possible. Each day I am learning why I said "never again" after I sold my last boat about 7 or 8 years ago. One thing or another constantly. |
