z302 with 525sc- gear ratio questions
 

Guys , I have a z302 with a strong 525sc engine and the bravo III outdrive with 2.00 ratio and 30 pitch props. This boat came standard with the 7.4 MPI and that outdrive but obviously different pitch props. I think they were 24 or 26. With this setup I am hitting the WOT very easy with a whole lot of engine left. I have ran this boat for 3 years this way but am trying to optimize my setup for best performance. I don't think there are any other props I can go to on this boat and a different drive ratio is my only option. I am looking at 1:50, 1:36 and 1:81.The literature on this website shows that the 525sc was a factory option for this boat. Do any of you know what setup the factory used when the 525sc was installed or have any of you used a different setup on a z302 with very high horsepower( approx. 600) ? All ideas appreciated.

I am soon to have a similar setup and am very interested in what you find out. We are working out what gear ratio we should be at on the drive for our z302. What top speed are you getting with your current setup?

That is quite the set up. Those motors sound so good. Have you messed around with one of the prop/ratio/calculators? HERE

What sort of speed are you getting from that the way it is setup now?
