1994 Talari 210 Steering question

I am having problems with increasingly stiff steering and in reading past questions I need to disconnect the steering cable to isolate the issue between cable and the Power Steering pump itself.
Question where is the cable disconnect ?

Without pictures it is hard to explain where you disconnect the steering cable but it is behind the engine right on top of the inside part of the outdrive. You should see where the cable feeds into it (a at least its this way on the Bravo III) I would bet my next paycheck the issue is your steering cable itself as the grease in them dries out over time. Has it ever been replaced to your knowledge? I had the same exact issue on my 272 Shabah last year it started to get harder and harder to turn the wheel. A mercruiser mechanic friend of mine showed me how to remove the cable (not hard at all) and I took them off and took them to the dealer (Sea Ray) and they measured and ordered my new one. Installed it and it steers like new again... The Mercruiser power steering systems according to him RARELY go out. I assume you checked your fluid level? I will be out by my boat tomorrow and I will snap some pictures pointing to where the cable hooks up behind the engine. It connects using a piece just like you use connecting your trailer hitch into the receiver on your vehicle but obviously MUCH smaller... probably one inch long and very small diameter and a small cotter pin. Hope this helps but start with the cables as that is most likely your problem!
