Dash repair on 1991 mx19
2 Attachment(s)
Hey, all. First post. I bought a 91 mx19 in November. The inside was a little rough, but I hope the bones are good. I pulled the dashes and smeared marine-tex on them, sanded a lot, then painted. I wish I had the before pictures but here are the afters.
I hope to re-carpet next. Does anyone know how ro remove the lower panels that have final and carpet on them? Thanks, Neal |

Welcome to the forum!
For my boat, those lower panels just had the screws just going through the carpet nap, with the head of the screw being covered by the carpet. Just drag your hand along the carpeted panel and you should feel the screws. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have the same dash on my MX20, but the dash is vinyl. Was yours that way too?

I think it was vinyl. It was a hard plastic about 3/16" thick. It had a"leather" texture to it. It was faded from the sun and weather.

So did you remove the vinyl before the Marine Tex? Or slather on the Marine Tex over top of the vinyl?

what did you use the marine tex for, to fill in the textured surface?
