Options for replacing/repairing original 1996 Faria Tachometer

Hi All:

I have a 1996 Mariah Talari 191. The tachometer is annoyingly "sticky". When it works, it works fine. But the needle often gets stuck at some position and I have to knock the tach with a knuckle to get it working again. I'm having to knock it harder and more often as time goes by.

I'd like to get this tach working well again. I'm pretty sure that this model is not something I can buy new any longer. So, I see that I have several options:

1) Try to take it apart and fix it myself. I'm not sure there's even a way for me to take it apart.
2) Send it to Faria. This used to cost $30. Now it is $100 + $18 shipping and handling. If they repair the one I send in, the good news is it will match my other gauges when I get it back. The bad news would be that it would still be a 22-year-old tach. If they can't or don't want to repair it, they could send me a new replacement. It may not match my other gauges exactly.
3) Replace it with something that looks similar. Not sure what my choices are here. Not sure if Faria has the black meter with the SS ring any longer. If they do, does it still have the red backlight? Or what about some other brand, like a Sierra?
4) Other options?

Here's what it looks like (if these imgur links work):
