The guy i bought it from is a stand-up guy! He is taking it back and rebuilding for me at no charge. He works at a marina. Can't beat that!

Wow, that is awesome! Can't beat a rebuilt motor in your Mariah.

Re: 97 z222 5.7L RPM advise
Well the picture simply shows a spark plug that has been shorted out. No compression or just no combustion on one cylinder? Are you sure it's not as simple as new plugs or did they do a compression check and find a bigger problem ?
In any case if they fix it for you that's a good thing. |
Re: 97 z222 5.7L RPM advise
I checked compression myself. Also finger over plug hole very little pressure.

Re: 97 z222 5.7L RPM advise
OK, how it was not obvious that motor was running with a dead cylinder surprises me.
Good luck with the repair I hope you get back to full power. |
Re: 97 z222 5.7L RPM advise
It ran surprisingly good. It was the oil leak and rpm that led me to this.

Re: 97 z222 5.7L RPM advise
I hesitate to say this but... if that plug was installed with a crushed electrode, that may have killed that cylinder. If raw fuel was accumulating with no combustion and wiping the cylinder walls it'll do that.
