1994 or 1999 Mariah

Hello!

My name is Brian Jaschen and I have been boating with friends on their pontoon boat now for a few years. We are looking to get our own first boat.

Looking at a 1994 Mariah Z212

or a 1999 Mariah Shabah 202

Not sure which to go with. I have a ton of information back from the guy on the 1999. Regular maintenance, small spots in the captains seat seam letting loose, full cover, bow cover, cockpit cover and trailer all included.

The 1994 I just emailed on as there are only 2 photos of the outside of the boat. I live 2-3 hours away from either of these so wanting to do research before making the trip to see/test them out.

Recommendations? Things to watch out for? I would also be pulling this with a 2006 Nissan Frontier Crewcab SE 4WD. Any concerns there? Weights are about 2500 and 2700 lbs respectively.

Thanks in advance for any help! I am excited to get my own boat! (especially my 7 year old).

I own a 1994 Mariah Barchetta 182, 19' weighing in at about 2900, being pulled with a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6. You might want to get clip on mirrors to see around it more, my car is more narrow than the boat. Leave the cover off if you want to see behind the boat helps.

i could not get links to work. but you want to make sure you get the V-8. the 99 would most likely have fuel injection, be sleeker as well. The 202 is a great boat and will probably hold it value better.

The 99 will have mostly fiberglass in the stringer and floor system. The 94 will have a lot of rot-prone wood. Big difference.

Re: 1994 or 1999 Mariah

Well, I had a conversation finally with the guy that owns the 1994 Z212. Definitely something that will be hard to sell for him. Most of it has been parted out from the original seating and replaced, It has a 305, trim/tilt is very slow moving (gauge does not work), sundeck auto lift motor is bad, something about the exhaust not working and having to manually start it. (I think blower motor maybe?) Just seems like more than I want to take on when starting out with my first boat.

I am going to try to get my eyes on the 1999 this weekend if the owner is available.
