1998 202 Shabah New Interior Quotes
I have been getting quotes to replace my 202's interior upholstery as the old stuff is pretty sun-dried, cracked, and my sun deck needs complete re-fabrication (along with those four headrests)....
My quotes have been running from $1900.00 to $4500.00 and I have heard that "1/2" PVC is the way to go for the wood replacement" or "stay with 3/4" plywood because it's stronger" to "King Starboard is what you need to use".... Does anyone want to weigh in on this and give me some pointers and viewpoints? So far, all my quotes were obtained from me sending out photos of the current interior. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...a02671e9d8.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...355fa8982b.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f220f64e75.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...867fc96a2c.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...9cc1758492.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: 1998 202 Shabah New Interior Quotes
Just wondering if the quotes include all the upholstery and not just the seats?

Following
I have a similar issue with my 1998 Shabah 180 as a raccoon did its deed over the winter. But my quotes in Iowa are roughly $9800-$12k for all seats, panels, carpet and snap cover. |

Firestone - Includes all upholstery.... Even replacing bad wood substructures and rebuilding my four missing headrests for the bench seat from a sample that I obtained

Re: 1998 202 Shabah New Interior Quotes
Just an update.... And there's another thread about current goings on in the world of the sun-baked 202....
We removed the side padded panels from the bow section and will just do those ourselves. We're going to use Starboard and foam it and wrap it in solid white or teal. No seams or inset colors (like the original) to complicate it or make it a cleaning nightmare. Also removed the "sundeck/engine cover and will be replacing the 1/4" thick plywood with 1/2" thick Starboard. I will probably have the upholstery guy cover that because it is so visible and will probably be white with teal inset. The bench seat will be all his, as we will unscrew the seat hinges and carry the seat up to his shop..... Probably have him cover the bow seating after I replace the wood with Starboard. Again, white with teal. Lastly, I will recreate the four headrests from the one OEM that was sent to me and those will be teal. 1998 202 Shabah 5.0L Alpha 1 |

Still in my garage but it's filling up with foam sheets, Starboard, stainless steel hardware, and just picked up an 8-1/2 foot wide by 25 foot long roll of Sunbrella material and a snap crimping tool.

I like your interior deck. I have carpet and it is on its last legs.

Yeah I have snap in on my bow, but standard on the back. I will be moving to snap in as well for the ease of maintenance

Re: 1998 202 Shabah New Interior Quotes
Thought I would add an informational tidbit here... I was speaking with my "Boat Guru - Stevie B" and told him that I bought two sheets of King Starboard to start my interior project. He said that Starboard was overpriced and too hard to work with. Which is why no one uses it anymore for boat interiors. He said that the stainless steel staples mostly won't penetrate and they will mushroom due to Starboard's density. Most people don't use a PVC sheet now.
I am going to keep going with the Starboard..... 1998 202 Shabah 5.0L Alpha 1 |

Here is some pics of the interior i had redone for my 202 . I had the logo digitized and recreated on all the seat backs and head rests. Like original and only cost me 70 bucks at local sign shop.
