A/C Question

I would like to add A/C and heat to my boat, but I am very confused as to which setup to buy. The marina recommended a 5000BTU setup, but that seems awful small to me. They were also curious about where to actually put the unit. Maybe someone can chime in and let me know where they are located and the size? IF anyone can recommend a unit to me that would be great also. They were going to sell me a Wabasto 5000BTU reverse cycle with 2 ducts, one is the rear berth and one under the front seats. Any thoughts?

Hi Wolf
We have a marine air systems(part of Taylor Made group) air/heat unit on our z280. It is a 7000btu unit.It is located under the first seat bottom in the forward berth.(starboard side). There are 2 ducts one located in the forward berth(cedar closet),the other in the mid-cabin.Digital control panel is also located ajacent to cedar closet.

Hope this helps,

How does that cool for you? Are you happy with the performance?

Unit works well, according to the wife sometimes too well.Heat is nice to have in the fall.Digital thermasat allows us to set temp to whatever we want and the unit does a fine job maintaining that number.
You will be the envy of some of your fellow boaters on those really hot days.

Here's how our A/C system works on our 252 Shabah:
  1. Remove clothing
  2. Install bathing suit
  3. Jump in lake/ocean/river
  4. Repeat step 3 as needed
