What Year Was The Fuel Injection Born?

Hello, I am a new 2000 Mariah Jubilee 244 boat owner! I bought her with a torn apart engine:( I have the serial number for the engine but cannot find any information about the (Gen +) 260 HP engine. Heck, I cant tell if it supposed to be carborated or fuel injected.
Engine Serial: 0L607009
Drive Serial: 0L740115

Congrats on your new purchase! I have a 99 Jubilee 214 with a carbureted 220hp Merc, but I believe they had several options to choose from. I don't know if fuel injection was one of them though. Not sure how stripped down the engine is, but look for a mechanical fuel pump near the water separator filter and that will tell you if its F/I or not. Any idea why it's torn down? First, check for a cracked block from not winterizing before you start buying parts and putting it back together. Unless it's obvious, you may have to pull the engine. If it's cracked, $3k+

It may be a throttle body injection TBI motor and not multi port fuel injection (MPI) like modern cars. With those serial numbers you should be able to find out. Mercruiserparts.com might have the info you're looking for.

Thanks for the prompt response guys! I found out that the engine has the two barrel carb with the bravo 3 drive. The engine is beyond repair with a cracked exhaust manifold. I plan to find a used long block or turn key ready engine that bolts up to the bravo three drive. Any guidance on finding used engines would be greatly appreciated.
