I see the cutouts in the side of the hull in the engine bay for the top. But trying to fit it in there is a different story. The top and frame are the originals to the boat.any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe it's me just being stupid. Thanks.

It's possible, but not easy. I stick the port side in first and then raise and lower it until the starboard side finally goes in. I actually cut the holes larger and it's still a struggle.
