New to me Z308!

5 Attachment(s)
Well I finally got her home. 2400 mile round trip to go get her but she's now settled in her new storage spot here in NV.

2000 Z308 "The Nauti Nymph". Previously of Lake Texoma on the OK/TX Border now a resident of Lake Mead NV.

Radar Arch, Twin Engine (5.0L EFi Mercruisers with Alpha 1s), Genset and AC/Heat, Power Anchor, etc. options fitted.

A friend bought my SC21 a couple of weeks ago so I know she went to a good home.

:wink_thumbup:Nice ..... I notice that a lot of big Mariahs aren't twin engine... I think this is the first one I have seen ..How much did you pay for it ? ......

Re: New to me Z308!

I could be wrong but I think they only offered twin engines on the Z308s and that was an option.

I paid $25,500 for the boat but I had to buy a new trailer as well as it didn't have one.

Thats bad ass Ian! There must be something about the SC21 that makes a guy want a bigger Mariah! Did you sell the 21?

I dig the twins!

Hi Moto, yes a friend bought the 21 so she should be in good hands.

Yes the 21 seemed just a little too small, so I decided to go a "little" bigger.... :)

That's great man!

Glad everything worked out and she's home ipgregory! 2400 miles is a heck of a trip. Was that your tow vehicle in the pic? If so I'm impressed. That's a heavy boat to be towing that sort of distance.

Yes, twins were only offered on the Z308's, (twin 4.3's, twin 5.0L, twin 5.7L's, or D-tronic diesels (volvo options also available). According to the build sheets I have, only 24 of them were ever built, and only one was with a single engine.

Good luck with it, and you'll have to keep us posted with the cleaning process and post some pics when she's all spiffed up! I know I'm jealous :wink_thumbup:

Re: New to me Z308!

Thx Chris.

Yes that was the tow vehicle. I got to admit I was a bit nervous but she handled it fine with no problems. The trailer is brand new and has disc brakes but I also had an Electric over Hydraulic conversion fitted for more control. Used a Weight Distributing/Sway Control Hitch set up and checked my weight math carefully to know I was about 500lbs or so under my max weight. Not much I know, hence why I was nervous.... :)

Now she's home she only has to go about 2 miles back and forth from the storage to the ramp so its not so bad. Felt a bit like Jonah pulling the whale bringing her back though.

Overall she's in pretty good condition. She's spent the last couple of years sitting in a marina slip unused which is why the PO sold her. I have a detailed survey report on her as well so I have a pretty good idea what I am working with. Next project is a good clean, buff and wax.

I have a big stack of manuals and paperwork that came with her that I still have to go through but I am sure there might be some stuff that we don't have up in the documents section. How do I go about uploading something?

Thx for all your help pre-sale and for the build sheet info.

Drop me a line with a list of all the manuals and things you've got, and we'll go from there! :wink_thumbup:

Take some time and read a couple of the STICKYS located at the top of the Introductions Forum regarding the benefits of becoming a 'contributing' member and regarding 'manuals'.

Been to St Williams a number of times and used to have a cottage at Long Point so I'm very familiar with the area.

It's been a while since I got on line and noticed your post. We have a 2000 Z308 and absolutely love the boat. We've made a few mods for our style of boating. I've done about anything you can do to our "Good Chi" so ifyou have any questions, fire away and I'll try to answer.
Bruce

Wait, are you serious? Are you saying only one Z308 was made with a single engine?

Thank you..We absolute love our Z308. The only thing we weren't in love with was the swim platform. That is all about to change though. We've ordered a new one and are having it installed in the spring. I will post pics when she's done :)

Re: New to me Z308!

As I wrote early on, I think I've done about every MOD on our "Good Chi" that I can think of. Here's a couple pics of the extended deck we had made for her. We love it!! as you can see we incorporated a new locker for the ladder and used the old one to store a washdown hose and BBQ stand. The two retractable cleats are really used for grab handles as you come up the ladder. Otherwise there is nothing to hold on to. Under the deck, I installed lights that illuminate the water and make it easy to play in the water if you are so inclined. Unfortunately, I had filled the gas tank to full when it went into dry storage from one of our outings. The gas expanded and some leaked on the deck and made the stain that I have yet to figure out how to remove. Bottom line though is that I'm not sure we could live without the extended deck. It is so much fun and practical too.

I'm trying to send some pics of our extended deck, but having some trouble. I have contacted the administrator to see why I'm getting and error message I'm getting. You can contact me at [email protected] if you would like me to send you pictures direct.

If i remember right from my Mod days here, this site had a size limit on pics so you may be exceeding that limit. The software here is old and needs to be updated. Good luck getting Admin to respond.....
