new owner
I just bought a 1994 TALARIZ 200.My biggest problem is when on plain my boat leans bad to the left
family in the bow feel like they are going to fall over .Any one ever have this problem? or can anyone help?: |
Re: new owner
Does it have a Hydrofoil on the out drive ? Mine did that also I was able move trim in or out to corect it . I eventualy took off HYDRO and havent had any more leaning issues , but it takes alittle more go to come off plan , still better than the leaning .

Re: new owner
I think the tabs on my hydrofoil were broken cause in mind to do that cuz it would do it while I was just moving straight it would get a bad lean to it there may be another logical reason yours is doing that without having to take off hydro. I plan on installing smart tabs on my boat I've heard really good things about them

Re: new owner
Thanks for the replies i have taken the foil off already it has helped some. previous owner said it may be over powered. Change props to a higher pitch.
He just sat everyone on the other side |
Re: new owner
If you do a site search you'll find this topic has been discussed numerous times here. Move some of your boat items over to the 'high side' of the boat & possibly move your battery over also. Then install a set of Smart Tabs. Again, a site search for Smart Tabs will find more information than you will ever need to know.
And, anyone who installs a 'hydro-foil' on their outdrive deserves this kind of problem. |
Re: new owner
Thanks all . I have had several outboards never had one that was so hard to find out about . I still do not know what all the buttons are for . no owner manuals .I may have to try the smart tabs.Lots of work to due.
thanks again to all the repleys |
Re: new owner
Smart Tabs are one of the best things I've done to mine and would also allow you to bias the tabs with a little more force on one side over the other. Might be a bit of a Band-Aid but easier than re-engineering were things go on the boat.

1. Windshield wipers 2. Windshield defrost blower 3. Bilge pump 4. Blower motor for engine (to take gas fumes out before starting engine) 5. Accessory (should turn on dash depth finder) 6. Horn 7. Docking lights 8. Navigation lights 9. Anchor light (stern) 10. Interior lights 11. Transom lights 12. Engine lights I think that is all. Just looked at picture of mine and it has 12 switches. Couldn't see what was on right side but these should cover your switches. |
Re: new owner
I put on a set of smart tabs on and finely had a chance to take it out . It now leans to the right. I was worse than before. No way to take them off in the water . It is a great looking boat but no one wants to go in it.Not sure what to try next .Next I guess is to take it to the marina and see if they can come up with anything .Summer is almost over

Re: new owner
Are the tabs you purchased adjustable? What is the Tabs mfg & model #?
|
Re: new owner
They are Nauticus sx 9.5x10 sx 9510-80
|
Re: new owner
The tabs have some adjustments for different hole patterns . But with these on you were not able to do any adjustment with steering

I have the same ones.
they are not made to be a steering adjustment per-se, more of a planing & idle, no wake wandering correction. What hole location do you have currently have them? |
Re: new owner
The tabs are nauticus sx9510-80 they do have different holes for adjustments.

I have a 21ft (210) 6000# boat. With yours you might be at the last two holes (further away from the transom) since its a 180. |
Re: new owner
I have them in the center holes
|
Re: new owner
Do you think they should both be the same ?

Re: new owner
I need to make a better set up to change then no way to do in the water with the pins supplied
|
Re: new owner
I have 20 ft . and it is about 2550 lbs

Re: new owner
This issue has been discussed previously a number of times. Generally the 80# tabs are too stiff for the 180 - 200 despite what the Nauticus site recommends. Exchange them for 60# tab arms from the manufacturer. The tabs will help but not completely fix a leaning problem though. You need to move items in the boat to help level out the load. As for the pin placement, it isn't necessary to have them in the same location. Being offset by one spot will help a bit with the leaning issue.

Re: new owner
Totally agree with MikeyT. The 80 lb struts are too much and is probably making your bow plow through the water which can make for a scary ride. Nauticus has exchanged for free in the past no problem

Re: new owner
When sitting in the water do you still list or is it just under power?
I think it's a weight problem, and trim tabs might help but they won't fix it completely. I have them on my 202 and they help with planing out but I wouldn't trust them to fix a list. These boats should be pretty well balanced to start with, is it possible it might be retaining water under the floor? |
Re: new owner
I'm glad I found this post. I have a '94 Talari 200Z and it has the same problem! I'm guessing it's a thing with that year/model. I have not tried the trim tabs but I will be installing them next. Thanks for the great info!
