throttle 3000 series
The lift switch on my 3000 series throttle will not left the prop. Will go down but not up. I can bypass the switch and make the prop raise leading me to believe the switch in the throttle is bad. As the boat is a 1998 model I was thinking about just replacing the entire throttle rather than tear it down just to replace the switch. Are these series still available to purchase. It has the trailer towing switch on the lower right hand corner. Even when trying to use the trailer towing mode the prop will not raise. Any suggestions?

Re: throttle 3000 series
The 3000 series are not produced any more. I have the same shifter and was able to special order parts from my local dealer (broken throttle button, nuetral lock lever and trim switch). Sounds like your problem may be more of a wiring issue than the switch itself. Check the wires on the trim/tilt pump for corrosion. There are two relay solenoids on the pump, too. One for up and the other for down. One of mine was bad. Replaced it and works fine now

Re: throttle 3000 series
Turned out to be the wiring. Not being that mechanical took me all day last Friday to trace but found it and was able to replace. Went ahead and changed the solenoids also. Had a great day on lake LBJ yesterday.
Thanks for your help! |
