depth sounder?
my depth sounder is incorrectly working. When you power it on with the switch, all it does is blink and flash a number like 687 for ex. Then it will say 11.3 as it is actually working, and then back to the crazy numbers blinking. Im sure its somthing easy, just running it thorugh to see if anyone has had this.

Hi dieselwiezil,
Almost sounded like our depth sounder, found out the transducer broke free from where it was glued down, unfortunately, there is absolutely 0 clearance to get down there and re-glue it back, at least until the motor comes out. You might want to check on your transducer too. Good luck, WetWilly |
where is the transducer? A picture would be great! I dont see anyhing other than the bilge down there. Also, where is the speedo pickup? Is it with the transducer?

Yep, sounds just like what mine was doing at the end of the season too, found out mine had broken loose from the mount in the bilge. I plan on trying to re-epoxy the existing one this season, but it needs to be in the water first. I've got a brand new transducer just in case... I'll keep everyone updated with what I can figure out.
Here's a thread that'll give you some ideas on where to look for the transducer. Fish Finders The speedo pickup is in the outdrive, there's a few posts recently that will probably help you out, just do a search and you'll find all kinds of info! |
Hi dieselwiezil
The speedo pickup was discussed here, there are pictures on post #12: Click here Afterwards, would you mind adding your Mariah data to your profile so it shows up with your posts? It lets the other members know what you have so they can better help you. Click Here Thanks and good luck, WetWilly |
Mine came loose and it was recommend to me to use 3M 5200 to reattach it. He said clean the bottom of the boat and the transducer. Then seal around the transducer with the 5200.

Just an FYI
Per the Faria manual, the display will blink when it does not have a connection to the transducer. You may want to check the connection at the back of the gauge and any splice points in the cable. Mine is actually doing the blinking thing now. It worked last season so I'm guessing something has come loose with the cable. The transducer is still intact. |
Z275's right! Check those connections!
I must be getting soft in the brain department... forgot the bane of all boats electrics, corrosion! WetWilly |
