Cooking on a Mariah
 

I have a 25 foot Mariah 250 Shabah with a small cuddy cabin. Has anyone figures out how to BBQ on a small grill while over-nighting on the boat. My parents had a 24' Sea Ray and it had a taek railing around the stern of the boat. They devised a rack to attach to the railing that hung over the stern of the boat and put a small grill on it.

Any ideas out there?

Portable grill works pretty good. I have some Blue Rhino or something to that effect. It stores in a Rubbermaid box and hides under the cuddy pads when not in use. Usually put it on the swim platform when I grill. There is a brand out there that makes a pretty neat stainless steel one that has a mount. Can't think of the name right now. Google marine BBQ an it should come up.

Magma grills are some of the best marine grills out there, and have all sorts of amazing mounts for nearly any mounting configuration. However they're definitely not cheap...

When I had my Z250, I had thought of having a removable mounting point off the bar above the rear ski hook, and a 1ft pole extension the grill could attach to so it'd hang off the boat just in case of any drippings, etc. Magma had all the parts to do it, but I ended up just getting a portable propane george foreman style grill, and used it on the shore. :)

Thanks so much for your informative response and suggesting Magma grills. I wonder if I would be able to mount a floor plate in the swim platform that a post for mounting a grill could be inserted into and removed when not in use. I also wonder if I could put a table up there when the grill was not in use?

Any thoughts on this one.

We have a Z255 and use a Magma Trailmate BBQ with a quick release mount to the bar above the ski hook as Chris suggested. It's worked out great for us. It heats up fast and does a great job at cooking for it's small size. It has legs that fold out and a nice sized handle so you can take it on shore to cook if you like. When not in use, we store it in the cockpit between the port captains chair and the gunwale. It saves us money in the long run because we can bring food with us rather than eat out.
