Water Pump
 

This may sound like a very dumb question but please bear with me. I am new to I/O's. I have a 4.3 Mercruiser. Is there a rubber impeller water pump in the stern drive and another rubber impeller pump on the engine as well (apart from the engine circulating pump)? Are these both in line with each other or in different loops?

Hi Glen,
Generally there is only one raw water pump (pump with a rubber impeller) per engine. I'm not sure which outdrive you have but on Mercruiser Alpha outdrives the impeller is located in the outdrive itself while the larger Bravo drives have a raw water pump that is driven by a belt off the front of the engine. Hope this helps.
