Hi bpfirrman,

I'm in agreement with the web sites, small dings and pieces of missing skeg are ok, but bent blades could cause undue stress and vibration to the shaft bearings and the rest of the out drive.. For piece of mind, I would have it repaired or replaced before risking further problems. It's also important to have the prop carefully examined for any cracks, wouldn't want to throw a blade at WOT! :eek_animated:

I have decided to just replace or repair. Don't want to risk any further damage. I came to that decision after pricing out lower units.

i think i have to go along with WetWilly & the websites. Having a bent / damaged prop lessens the performance of your boat and i would think that with it being out of balance, it may lead to shaft damage etc if left that way for any length of time. Just my $.019 (adjusted for the Cdn exchange rate)........

Fix what isn't broken in the marine world
Don't fix what isn't broken in the automotive world.

I third what Willy and Mikey replied with. I know my boat will be getting a fresh prop this summer. When it went into storage I noticed the mechanic removed the prop as well. Last year I noticed that one of the blades seemed to be "flattened" backwards a slight bit.
