Drive Oil Fitting in Transom ??????

Anybody ever replace the plastic fitting for the drive oil that inserts into the transom assembly.....I couldn't even see it to even try to replace it.... Looks like you have to remove a water pipe and maybe the steering arm to get to it... I think it's out of my league so I went to my mercruiser shop and he said it would be 2-3 hrs @ $110hr. Is that reasonable? Thanks in advance

I've never done that job but i've been following your other thread and think this might be money well spent simply to avoid a lot of aggravation and/or frustration. $110/hr is what my local marine mechanic charges also.
