Full throttle Hesitation?? 350 Mag Alpha One

350 Mag Alpha One Weber 4 bbl, First time out this year today and for the 2nd year I get hesitation when I immediately give it full throttle, if I slowly accelerate then give it full throttle it picks up and we go. I have been thinking this is the accelerator pump, but haven't taken the plunge to rebuild the carb. Could this be the accelerator pump and if so should I rebuild the carb, or buy an Edelbrock 1409 600 CFM. Any help will be very appreciated, trying to get ready for the July 4th weekend.

Change the fuel filter
Rebuild the Weber , it's virtually the same carb. Save the money for gas & beer!
It is possible the accelerator pump isn't engaging right away.
How much slack is in the pump rod when you open the throttle slowly?

JMO :)

Yup, accelerator pump... They go out pretty quick these days with the craptastic fuel out there.

Yes Larry we did go through this last year and I never got it fixed, so I changed the filter yesterday, I filled it with premium, added fuel stabilizer and today it did just like last year and i'm tired of dealing with it. I found a thread that said with a full bowel of fuel, engine off, carb exposed to look into the carb while accelerating the throttle and see if additional fuel shoots into the manifold and I did that 3 times just now and fuel shot into the manifold, with that test completed it cant be the acc pump. It only does it when it's in the water, outside the water it opens up everytime.

Well, maybe if you have been dealing with this problem for a year now, its time to stop attempting to fix it yourself and let a good carb mechanic have a look at it.

:shakehead: Some people can be a bit stubborn when it comes to trying to fix things. I'm just pointing out the obvious in the event you couldn't see it.

I have learned over the years it is sometimes cheaper and easier to let a somebody else fix the problem.... Ok almost everytime!!!
