Lack of mid-range power
1994 21' Talari. 305 quadrajet carb. Looking for suggestions. Purchased boat that had fuel left in tank for 2 + yrs. Had stabilizer in, but didn't quite have the get up and go it should have. Removed almost all the old fuel, changed fuel filter, added star-tron & high test fuel. It lacked mid-range power right from the beginning. Rebuilt carb, new fuel lines, new electric fuel pump, changed fuel filter 3 x. Seems to improve, than goes back to way it was. Also back fires sometimes. When taking off, full throttle, it bogs down, and does not plane off, than without moving throttle it will suddenly pick up speed and plane off. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks. Love the boat but not the way it runs.
