So, added gas, turned key, and the engine idled for about 15 seconds. Tried to restart.... Nothing. Checked water separator filter and it was dry. Pulled line at carb and it was dry. The local mechanic changed the fuel pump and ran the engine on an outboard tank, or at least said he did. I suspected the fuel pump. Pulled it off and it wasn't even close to being the right pump. It didn't have a part number on it, but I've enclosed a picture if anyone has a guess of what type it might be.
Anyways, I bought and installed the correct part and finally got the boat out on the water this weekend. My guess is that they either bypassed the pump, or didn't even start my engine after the rebuilt the carb. I'll find out tomorrow I guess. Attachment 4884 |

The pump arm made no contact at all with the crank shaft. Here is a pic of the pump I installed. Attachment 4885

Re: New Mariah Owner/ No Idle
Was there a hose on the diaphragm relief? It appears the fitting for it isn't even on the new pump. Which probably means it isn't even marine rated.
Man , I can't wait to hear the news. |
Re: New Mariah Owner/ No Idle
It looks like a 4 cyl fuel pump for a car!

Re: New Mariah Owner/ No Idle
It has the relief, hidden in the photo.

Re: New Mariah Owner/ No Idle
Got my money back for the fuel pump. The mechanic said they must have put the wrong one in the box. He's still "certain" they ran it on outboard tanks, but I know better.
