Hmmm... the 19" pitch should be almost perfect for your boat. The 23" pitch will likely give you horrible hole shot and bring down your rpms by 700-800 which means you are well below the recommended range (4400-4800) for your boat which will have your motor lugging. IF its the 19" prop then i'm wondering if its really a 19" as its possible the pitch has been altered with any repairs done to it. Try the 23 though just for comparison but i suspect it will be too high. As for the 'forgiving' part, the hub in a SS prop is designed just like a hub in an aluminum prop. Both should let go on impact to reduce any possibility of damage to a gear gase. Repairing a SS prop just costs more money.

Holleys are fairly easy to rebuild just make sure to get the right kit if you go that route.

I checked the issue or idea I had to what you have and its not the same. How is the hull ? how clean is it? I was getting 3700 wot rpm and 27 mph when I first got my boat and it would not do a tick more. There was so much scum and crap on the bottom that would not let me slide.

I now can run 4500 with a 19 at 36-37 on the gps but that is it. I have completely went through ignition system minus the ignition module and have rebuilt my carb and I am having the same issue still. Can you free rev the motor past 4500? My motor will not it starts to pop and sound loaded up.

I would think it would load up a tad or smell rich but it sputters and pops past 4200 so I think I am overfueling at wot and am planning to go down a half a jet size to see if it helps me.

i have not tried to free rev the engine past 4500 rpms. that is something i will try. As far as scum on the hull.....Eric doesnt allow that too happen! in fact just the opposite i spent 3 days before we took her out the first time wet sanding and de oxing the chalk away buffing and polishing. i need to rebuild my carb regardless if this is my problem b/c i never had it rebuilt in the 3 years i owned it. i will try a few things this weekend and see what happens. im curious. will let everyone know what happens.
