Pitting on lower housing under water pump

Hey guys,

I just pulled my lower housing off of my Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive to replace the water pump and found some decent pitting around all 4 of the bolt holes for the water pump. This to me does not look good and wanted to get some opinions on this. I haven't had any real overheating issues until the last time I had the boat on the water which is why I pulled the lower housing. Upon further inspection I found some major "stuff" jammed in the housing directly behind the prop. The impeller looked fine so I am not sure the the overheating was caused by the water pump, but more likely the "stuff" jammed in the housing. Has anyone else had this type of pitting and found that the water pump still works fine? I of course went ahead and replaced the water pump components but I am concerned as to whether it will work properly or not? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Turfguy
