On the same topic....something I've noticed and don't understand. Remember I'm totally new to boats and the like. I've been to the lake by my home 3 times now and I see lots of people beaching their boats. Why would you do this? I've hit a couple shallow spots just idling around and felt/heard the ground and got away as fast as i could. These aren't cheap boats either. Nice crownlines, sea rays etc.

Beaching isn't something i would personally do unless my boat was fitted with a keel guard. i've always anchored mine just off the beach using anchors off the bow & the stern to keep it from swaying around.
