engine change...

i have a 1994 barchetta z192 with the 4.3lx. does anyone know how hard it would be to change the motor from the v6 to a small block v8? my main concern is the motor mounts. i am getting about the same gas mileage as a v8 so might as well have one!

thanks!

You might be better off not trying this. The Z192 was only meant to structurally support up to a 4.3LX engine. The hull, stringers, and everything else probably will not hold up well with the added weight, force, stress, and speeds the V8 would put out. My advice is to enjoy the boat you've got now, and look for a V8 when it's time to upgrade.

For whatever it's worth I have a 2001 Shabah 192 and it has a 5.0 V8. But it did come that way from the factory.

The internal structure of the hulls and stringer system were greatly improved between the 2001 and the 1994 models, which is why the later models were able to offer a larger engine option. :)
