2350Z Power steering

I am a new owner of a 1993 2350Z and I was able to have a low pressure return hose made up by a local Auto Parts store which saved a ton of money. The original owner just added power steering fluid. One more problem solved.:)

Always good to fix a problem instead of being lazy. Got any pics?

No, I haven't taken any pictures. Thanks for noting the success.

Any other projects you got to work on?

As a matter of fact YES! I am trying to find out what the water pickup is for that goes through the hull on the port side just in the front of the engine. There is water getting in the boat from somewhere that I haven't found yet. I have checked the 3 bellows but haven't seen a hole. No water is getting in when the engine in running with water comming from the hose, so I assume I don't have an open petcock. There is not much room to see things with a 454 engine. There are several more little things to take care, but the good news is it runs like a scared rabbit-about 54 MPH.

That 454 is a beast. I love how Mariahs didn't underpower their boats by any means.

On mine after I pull out the engine compartments and flip forward the rear seat there's a good amount of room to work.

That water pickup on the port side is probably for your water pump. That is how mine is set up as well. Mine does not draw raw water in for cooling thru the outdrive. It pulls water thru that fitting instead. Hope that helps.

Chris,
Thanks for the input. That makes a lot of sense, however I know that my Bravo outdrive also pickes up water from the outdrive as that is where I attach the ears for the hose. I haven't followed the hose to the pump but it looks like that is where it goes. It is interesting that there is a ball valve at the spot that the water pick up comes through the hull.

Patrick, I also have more room to work when I remove the engine compartment sides and move the rear seat forward but it is still very tight getting under the exaust manifolds to check things out.

My 94 Davanti has a water pick up there. It appears to be for the swim platform shower.
