Z275 Bilge Blower question
2 Attachment(s)
So here is my next issue. The bilge blowers do not work. I crawled down there and was looking and it looks like the prior mechanic messed up the lines. I have 4-3" lines coming down from the port side inlets. 2 lines are shorter and contain the blower motors . The other 2 are longer lines, but were balled up behind the "false transom wall". There are no lines on the starboard side. When I pulled one of the motors, the fan outlet was pointing up and out. So do these blowers "suck" air out or do they blow air threw the engine compartment? I also took 2 pictures to show you what I am working with.
The second picture "blower 2" shows the 2 longer lines that were wrapped up behind the wall. |
Re: Z275 Bilge Blower question
they are supposed to "SUCK" gas fumes from the engine bay and exhale them.

Take a meter and see if you are getting power back to them. I am curious though... Is this the 275 that was for sale down around Ft. Myers I believe? (South Florida atleast)

Yes, I checked the power to one of the blowers and I was getting power. It was rattling really bad. I have tried to see if I could take it apart and lube it up, but it looks like a sealed unit. |
Re: Z275 Bilge Blower question
I do not know the history at all but I remember noticing in photos that the Corsa had been taken out. I also thought to myself that it probably would have some corrosion/wiring problems due to its environment it was kept in. Nothing that a little effort cant take care of though. I have lubed up a blower on a boat about 10 years ago and got it working again. I think I just shot some WD-40 up inside the housing and started turning the fan myself. Then applied power to it and it worked for years until I sold that boat. (This had been a saltwater boat too) I would give it a shot and if not they're not that expensive to replace. If you find alot of corrosion/wiring issues you could look for a product made by Caig called DeoxIT. Just spray it on all the connections.

Re: Z275 Bilge Blower question
The way my blower is hooked up it is in the longer hose so it can pick up the fumes from the bottom of the boat and the short hose brings in freash outside air into the boat.

Anyways, I will try spraying WD-40 up in there and see if that works. Thanks for the tip! |
