Do I have to yank the motor to change my starter?

2000 Jubilee with a 5.0 EFI Mercruiser that has a stripped out starter battery cable post on the solenoid.

I am looking to troubleshoot the starter/electrical system but don't see any great tools online. I think the Merc has some goofy starter relay wired just aft and starboard of the carb. (Merc_____) and it has a bunch of wires off of it like the starter relay should.

Man it looks tight to get the starter out...anybody pulled one without jacking the engine?

I think you are looking at the engine main circuit breaker on top of the engine, rather than the starter solenoid.

It is possible to remove the starter without removing the engine, but you have to have the right tools, [wrenches and sockets] and be somewhat of a contortionist. ;)
