Squealing from engine

Have a merc 3.0L stern drive.

when starting and on Idle im getting a high pitch squealing from back of engine.
Alternator belt and wheel moving fine but the other belt and wheel not moving at all. Seems the noise is coming from inside engine somewhere.

Hi buddyboy, not sure what you mean by, "but the other belt and wheel not moving at all", do you mean you have a frozen pulley or belt?

If the noise is coming from the very rear of the motor (the transom area) it would indicate a possible bad gimbal bearing. If it is the gimbal bearing, stop using your Mariah until you have it replaced or you could cause a lot more expensive damage.

Cheers Willy I was hoping you would reply :wink_thumbup:

Ok, After further Investigation I have discovered It' the water circulating pump pulley that doesn't turn (fig4 in link attached, sorry but can't copy Image)

I removed belt, balancer and pulley to expose the pump assembly. Can't see anything obvious wrong.
