Exhaust and U-Joints.

I have a 95 Talari 4.3lx and an Alpha 1 gen2. I have never looked inside the bellows. Are there 2 U-joints and do they have zerts on them?

I am also curious about the exhaust. I thought my exhaust was supposed to come out through my prop, but mine comes through 2 holes (1 on each side) of the gimble housing. Is it supposed too? If so,what are the pro's and con's of this type exhaust?

I'll tack on to this post since it's the same thing-

I started my boat in the drive last night to begin the process of winterizing it, for whatever reason it doesn't suck enough to "pull" in the anti-freeze through the muffs from a 5 gallon bucket. So I connected the garden hose just to make sure the pump isn't completely shot, started it & noticed the water is coming out at the gimbal housing, I thought it came out through the propeller ???
Are my bellows shot? trimmed it back up but couldn't see any tears.

Help?

I'm not sure exactly how this works (but I'm sure someone on here does), but when the boat is at idle or neutral, the exhaust comes out the ports in the gimbal. When above idle speed in gear, the exhaust exits through the prop.

Again, I don't know how it works, but I'd guess it's a matter of the exhaust taking the least restrictive path (no moving parts or relays to make it happen this way).

Sounds like both of your's are operating properly.

is your drive all the way down ?

I put my 5 gallon bucket up on the swim step to give it some gravity feed

Well, no. My drive will actually go to the driveway & lift the boat. Don't ask me how I know this....:slow_blush:

Oh No.....maybe find a curb to park over and let the drive all the way down. Mine too will go that far (not that Ive done it, just got close once). So now I have a low spot at my shop to park over to service the drive fully extended.
