Merc 5.7 freeze plugs

The past owner of my boat took out a mess of plugs in order to stop it from freezing over the winter.. Question is, I have no idea where all the plugs go back in.. What would be the best route to get the thing put back together ?

Not sure what year you have, but my '99 5.7 has 5 of them. There's one under the exhaust elbow on each side, one a few inches below those on the block itself (again, one on each side), and the last one is at an elbow (rubber tube and elbow intersection) under the power steering cooler I believe.

It's not the best way, but you could always start the engine and see where water is coming out if you can't find one or two.

Thanks for the heads up, I think I'm just going to take it to the shop and have them give the whole thing a good look. I also want them to change over to the synthentic oil, so I'm thinking they can do it all in one shot.
