BravoOne outdrive - where does the coolant exit?

I had my dad help me with my first winterizing. I warmed the 350mag BravoOne setup to about 160 degrees based on the dash gauge. My dad said warm water was coming out the area outdrive.

So I stopped the water hose and quickly hooked up the funnel system and restarted the engine while adding in one gallon of automotive pink antifreeze and then 2 small bottles of the $$$ boat store pink antifreeze. My dad did say that some pink was coming out - I then fogged the engine and shut it down.

:shakehead: But now I am thinking I should have warmed in up better:confused:

So where does the water exit after it has circled through the engine? Is it possible to have pink collant exit but not fully circulate due to the thermostat not full open?

I did pull one of the large hoses on the thermostat housing and did not have any water or coolant present, in the hose or thermostat housing. :confused:

- Could I attempt to collect the coolant as I restart the engine? Let it fully warm up and return the pink coolant with another gallon for extra measure.

In "raw" water cooling systems, the water sucked up from the outdrive circulates throughout the motor then it's empied into the exhaust manifolds (for closed water cooling systems, the water is pumped to to a heat exchanger then to the exhaust manifolds) to keep the exhaust baffles from melting, from there it makes its way out with the exhaust through the middle of the prop if your outdrive in in the "down" position. If the outdrive is in the up/trailer position, the exhaust and the water will exit at the exhaust outlet on the gimbal.

You are correct about letting the motor completely warm up to insure the coolant is circulated to all parts of the motor. As you have already found out, a closed thermostat can prevent total circulation until it opens. Understand that the anti-freeze is for treating those areas where the water may not have drained fully, otherwise, disconnecting the hoses and pulling the drain plugs (4 of them) are normally sufficient.
