Wire shorting out on 7.4L engine

I had some clicking going on for a couple weeks. Thought it was the exhaust shutters.

My son identified a wire shorting out on top of the engine. Haven't see it yet.

Had mechanic checkout cold starts and he said there was wire to carb for auto choke he attached in the beginning of the season.

Does anyone know where this wire may come from so I can reconnect? It sounds like it's right on top of the engine and perhaps that wire to the carb.

Any thoughts is appreciated.

Re: Wire shorting out on 7.4L engine

Hi Dave,

All of the wiring is supposed to be color coded so a description of the color or color combination would be a big help and include a description of the type of connector it has on the end.

Better yet, got a digital camera, post a picture, click here for the "How To".

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...or in this case, one less short... :D

P.S. If you could trace the wire back to its source (perhaps from the Distributor module?), that would help as well.
