Mercruiser rebuild won't start
I have a 4.3l v6 mercruiser which had water getting into the oil. I have stripped it down to replaced all the gaskets. When putting the heads back together I watched a YouTube video on how to set up the rocker arms and it basically said to tighten the nuts fully onto the studs on the rocker arms as it has hydraulic tappets that self adjust the valves. Upon start up, the engine is just turning over and not kicking into life and doing the odd fire out of the exhaust. I have played on with the distributor with no joy. Any help appreciated.

Re: Mercruiser rebuild won't start
You have set up the valves incorrectly and are getting no compression. There is a sequence where you set crank to TDC then adjust valves on a cyl #x, y, z, I don't recall full sequence. You only tighten rocker nuts until you cannot spin the push rod and then tighten nut 3/4 turn. Rotate engine 180 then adjust valves on cyl a, b, c. Check a different YouTube. Hopefully you have not bent any pushrods or valves.
