Mariah Diablo 180 V8?

I have a 2001 Mariah Diablo 180 with a Mercruiser 4.3 V6 and an Alpha One outdrive. My engine seized last week and my winter project is here and now. I have a Chevy 5.7 which was just rebuilt and I'd love to drop it in. Has anyone ever tried this? I know what I need to change for the upgrade. I'm thinking the engine mounts have to be moved forward. If anyone has done this already or has a 5.7 in already, I would greatly appreciate any input. Thank you!

I'm sure it's been done before. You will need to account for the change in gear ratio going from a v6 to v8 I believe. The alpha one's were capable of holding up to the power of a 350 but you will have to make sure the ratio is correct. I would think it would not be that big of a project and I can't remember if the mounts would have to move or not.

I did one several years back but it wasn't a Mariah. It went easily. We actually took out one of the lag bolts and just flipped the motor mount around and installed one new lag. Other than that it was an easy swap on that boat. I have to see if all the accessories will bolt up. I know Chevy engines are pretty universal. I know I have to get new exhaust risers. I will update the group as the project goes on. Thanks for the feedback!
