Starting Issues

I bought a Shabah 202 at the beginning of last year, and had some starting issues I need to get resolved before this season. The 2 issues are:

1) Many times when I turned the key, I just got a click. If I turned it a few more times, it would finally turn over and start. Checked all connections, and they were tight. I kjnow these engines (4.3LX) have 2 solenoids - would it be one of those, or the starter? It never failed to start, it just acted as if they battery was dead at times and would only click. This didn't happen every tine I started it, but it was frequent.

2) Later in the summer, I had an issue with it firing when it was turning over after it sat at the dock for a couple of days. I usually had to use starting fluid to get it to fire. It would only do this if it sat - if I was out on the water and turned it off to site for a while, it would start back up (but sometimes with the clicking issue above). I'm thinking that the carb is letting fuel drain back and probably needs to be rebuilt?

Thanks in advance for any insight/input/advice!

take some scotch brite to all the battery terminals on both sides.make them real shiny. sounds like you need a carb rebuild also. I'm just about to do mine also.

I wrote up a diagnostic 'Sticky' for the "No Start" issue a few yrs ago. The link is here.
