Engine Cut Out when using trim button

Today several times when I was trimming up or down the motor would cutout as if I had turned off the ignition switch. As soon as I let go of the trim switch the motor cut back in again. I also noticed that as my RPM's increased my volt meter decreased. At idle it showed just over 13 volts, and as I increased the RPMs the voltage dropped to between 11 and 12. Could these 2 situations be related? I thought a slipping alternator belt but when I stopped the motor and felt the pulleys for heat, they all felt normal, warm but not hot. I don't have the serpentine belt but separate belts for the alternator and power steering pump. Belt tension seems to be fine. Any thoughts as to what may be going on here. http://www.mariahownersclub.com/foru...s/confused.gif

I have the exact same motor setup as you, 5.7 carb'd thunderbolt ignition, and I see the same stuff with my voltage. I see 13ish volts at idle and around 12 at any speed.

I don't have any issues with the motor cutting out at the moment but I have been trying to chase down a starting issue.

Did you read & follow the instructions in the STICKY at the top of the General Maintenancer Section?
