1992 Mariah Disblo SS 4.3 Mercruiser . Boat ran great all summer long, previous owner had fixed cracked issue on both water jackets with JB weld and I wanted to fix them for good this winter. The JB weld looks like it may have cracked again at the same spot as the temp. Fix. Looks to me like both jackets have cracks on the lower outside, what would you all recommend for a part replacement,not looking for conversion kit would prefer to keep similar setup. I had a local boat "mechanic" offer to pull and machine weld them for $700. No block issues according to mechanic and all other winterization was done already.

By water jackets are you referring to the water jackets on the engine block or the water jackets on the exhaust manifolds? In either case you would be welding cast iron which requires someone who knows what they are doing. For a worry free repair I would just replace the damaged part(s) unless your "mechanic" is willing to give you a 100% guarantee of his welding skills. JMHO
