Walk-thru W.S section for Shabah wanted.

My 93 Shabah needs the center walkthru section of windshield. Would appreciate info on a possible source for a used unit. Thanks. [email protected]

Hello Rick

You didn't indicate what size / model Shabah you have but in any event this wont be an easy task. As per the thread with 'bblauvelt's' similar request directly below yours, you might try contacting Taylor Marine. The person below was a contact i had there to help me source a couple of windshield related parts for my '96 Shabah. They dont keep track of their parts by boat models though so you will have to provide a lot of info (ser # / product #'s etc) from whatever is left of your walk-thru.

If you are just in need of the glass you can use automotive tempered safety glass which most auto glass shops can cut & bevel to size. I've also seen acrylic & polycarbonate used. Acrylic is the most popular because of it’s UV protection and better scratch resistance than Polycarbonate. The Polycarbonate is an average of 15-20 percent more cost and is much stronger but scratches easily and has less UV protection.

Thank you for the suggestions Mike--

This is for a 1993 Shabah 212Z 21 foot - open bow. The center walk-thru windshield is missing, so I do not have the frame. Yes- it is a Taylor-Made windshield and the apprx measurment of the center section is 18 3/4" wide by 26 3/4 tall. I did start by contacting Taylor-made and they said that they do not make this style of frame anymore. They suggested that it might be possible to custom make the center section and then change out the sides of the existing left and right sides to match the new style center section It does get to be involved that way and it would be a whole lot better to find a used piece. hi Rick

Finding a used one will be like finding a teenage boy who doesnt have a pimple on his face. I haven't seen a windshield frame on E-Bay for the last couple of years and i dont know of any 'marine' wrecking yards although there are definitely some out there if you do a google search. You may have to locate a marine yard though and provide them with your measurements to see if another boat might have something that can be used. It may not have to be Mariah specific. You might be stuck having to follow Taylor's advice though.

Maybe someone else here has another idea?

Hi Rick,

Well here's a long shot... currently on eBay there is 94 180 Shabah in real bad condition
(click here), Both this and your Shabah have the same hull beam (width) at 92". it is possible that the center sections are the same. Right now, there are 4 bids on it and it is currently at $152.50. Whether it sells or not, try to contact the owner and see if they are going to part it out and is so, if the center is the same size then go for it!

There is a good chance the centers sections are the same dimensions since both are the same width, all Mariah would have needed to do to fit the windshield to a "longer" hull is to extend the side glass while leaving the front and walkthrough the same. 180diablo has a 93 180 Shabah, you might try and PM him to see if his measurements are the same as yours. If so, then now you have more options.

Good luck,
WetWilly

As i said in the other thread about this boat, i already asked the vendor a couple of times about whether he would consider parting out the boat and he said he did not want to & would prefer to sell it whole. Unfortunately it is too far away from home to consider buying the whole boat & trailer for parts. I would love to get my hands on the windshield glass for the drivers side off that boat though. I ended up having to have one made from Acrylic by a specialist up here. It works fine but glass would be better.

I suspect the most valued part of that boat is the trailer though....but if someone from our group ends up buying it & is willing to part it out i would definitely want to buy the glass and i wouldn't mind the convertible top frame also since i just have a bimini one and can get the canvas work done here.

btw....180diablo has a "Diablo" not a Shabah. :) Unfortunately mine is a couple of hrs away in storage or i could easily measure my walk thru for Rick. MariahTrooper has his '96 Shabah 180 up for sale & might have better access to his. Indykoch has a '99 Z212. You could have a look at the pics of his boat in our gallery and see if the framework looks similar then possibly PM him for measurements.

Windshield

It does sound likely that the windshield is the same. I will send him a message and if anyone else works out something, let's keep each other in mind. Thanks.

Hey Mikeyt,

My bad, your right, 180's is a Diablo, duh... I saw that but I guess my fingers though Shabah... truthfully, I think I need new glasses for sure.

I know you had asked the owner about parting it out, but they may reconsider if they can't sell it whole or if it's won on eBay, the new owner may want to part it out. Got to think positive, right?

I like to think we have options,
WetWilly

it may be that the more people who email the vendor asking if he will part it out might persuade him to do so if he doesnt get the price he's looking for....

but again...it's too far away for me to consider it but if someone here decides to buy it just for that reason i still want first dibs on that windshield glass & maybe even the convertible top frame !!

Unfortunately, my boat is locked up in a storage barn or something (I truly don't even know where the location is) for another 30 days, 4 hours, 45 minutes, and 23 seconds... but who's counting?

I'd be happy to take measurements at that time, if you still need them.
