Air Conditioning in the cuddy cabin
I searched and searched online, but couldn't come up with anything... My car has air conditioning, so why not my boat? Imagine a scenario where you want to spend the entire day on the water, but the first (...and only) mate would like to head back to the slip since its been a long hot day and the children aren't used to prolonged exposure to the sun and the cabin is a bit warm and uncomfy...
The question is - Does anyone know of a solution to attach an air conditioning unit to a merc 5.7 inboard engine and pipe air vents into the cabin? I think there's plenty of space along the side of the boat (inside of course) to run the piping and keep the blower near the battery compartment... I know it'll mean less power to the outdrive when the A/C is on, but its a tradeoff I'd gladly make... |
Here's a start....
http://www.marineair.com http://www.aquaair.net I'm not familiar with an engine mountable system similar to a car, but these are self contained units that are installed in many cruisers. Marine Air also makes a portable carry-on unit, which would be a great option too. I've seen them on ebay for as cheap as $350. |
