shiping a boat to Canada

Hi Guys,

Can someone give me some advice on the best way to ship a boat to Canada?
Are there import taxes to pay? Does it make a difference if you trailer it across personally?

Thanks

I have no experience with bringing one into Canada.

I'm guessing you are gonna get hit with GST as the minimum when you cross the border.

Just wondering where you are in Canada, because there are some Mariah's around here (Southern Ontario) for sale.

Give these sites a look over....both seem to have all the info you would need.

I transported my Z222 from the U.S. myself. I had to buy a trailer (the US trailers are not made to Canadian specs). I purchased mine at excalibur trailer for approx. $3,000, but you may be able to rent one from a Marina. I was required to have a bill of sale when I crossed the border and had to pay our PST and GST. I then had to register the vessel at Canada Customs. Front St. and Yonge in Toronto. They will give you the registration numbers which you will display on the bow with 2" numbers. I was not able to get insurance untile the vessel was registered in Canada. Hope this helps
