Just Purchased 1992 Mariah 1900Z
5 Attachment(s)
I just purchased a 1992 Mariah 1900Z runabout a couple weeks ago. During the test drive on the Alabama River it topped out at 54MPH with a 14-1/4" x 20" 3-blade prop. We have been tubing with it and pulled slalom skier.
From Nada it looks like the engine should be a 4.3 liter V6 with a 2-barrell carburetor (175Hp), but it appears to be a 4-barrell (205Hp). The engine serial plate states "Mercury Marine, s/n D706693, Div of Brunswick Corp, Fond Du Lac WIS, 54935 USA" and stern drive states "Alpha One s/n "OD656097". From the "...93" of the engine serial plate I am wondering if this isn't the original 1992 engine, but that someone did drop a 205HP 4-bbl in as a replacement. The upholstery appears to be original and is in need of repair. To date I have replaced the trim gauge, replaced the gas strut assisting the screw drive electric motor for the motor compartment cover, replaced the blower fan, repaired the speaker wire connections and rewired the bilge pump so it works automatically off the float. This boat is turning out to be a great weight loss program as I am spending so much time preoccupied by the boat I stay away from the kitchen. Dinged up my prop getting boat back on trailer. (That's what happens when the trim gauge doesn't work.) So I'm currently in dry dock waiting for it to be repaired. Re: Just Purchased 1992 Mariah 1900Z
Welcome aboard! I know that somewhere here on the site i posted the horsepower ratings for the various years of Mercruiser 4.3's. I believe that the 4 bbl version in the early to mid 90's was rated at 190 hp, not 205. That '54 mph', was it per the speedo or per GPS? 54 is a little high for that boat/motor and the speedo's are 'optimistic'. ;)

It was per the speedo. I have a handheld GPS (for Geocaching) that I will refer to the next time I hit WOT.

Welcome. I am on Lake Martin. We need to get those Mariahs together one day and parade them down the river.

You bought that boat from Cat. I knew I had seen that boat. He takes care of my boat.

That's right, Cathouse Marine in Prattville, AL. (Steve & Dede) Seem like nice folks. Saw it on Craigslist and kept calling in the evenings but nobody answered. My wife finally noticed the last picture showed the Cathouse sign on the building behind the boat.
Did you know the boat via the previous owner? |

No. I just have known Steve and his wife for a good while. I had to have the fuel pump on mine replaced and that is when I saw your boat.

We've already been on Lake Jordan twice and spent the 4th at Lake Martin with the Dervin's at their Real Island lake house.
I love working on it the little things. It's very therapeutic. Tell me more about your Mariah. How long have you had it? |

I grew up on Jordan at Bonners. I have had mine since 2005. It is a 93 Shabah 198Z

I am not far from Real Island. I am right by what is now called Anchor Bay. But I still call it Castaway.
