Blwn Engine

Hello All,
I have an unique opportunity to trade work valued at $700 my cost for a 1997 Mariah Shabah with a blown engine. I do not have the particulars as of yet but I think it is a 210, it is all red with a mercruiser 5.0 engine and white interior with red carpet. The hull is a 6/10 and the interior around a 7/10. I was told that a freeze plug failed and the guy overheated the engine and warped the heads(no cracked block). I have ridden in this boat in the past and love the look and quality of it. First off, is it worth the price and second would $3500 cover a rebuilt long block and installation? Any input would be greatly appreciated because I have wanted a Mariah for a long time. Thank You.

For 700.00 , I wouldn't hesitate to buy it! :wink_thumbup:
Worst case senario , part it out , you'll make way more than 700.00 on it.
3500.00 will pay for a long block easy in my opinion.
Buy ya a 5.7 long block and go for it.

That isn't bad at all, but I don't know if all of the accessories from a 5.0 would bolt onto a 5.7, ie the intake manifold. I am going to go look at it tomorrow at Plano Marine. Thanks for the input Larry.:wink_thumbup:

If it's solid red that would make it a z / se correct?

Yes , sounds like a Z / LE to me also.
Guess it could have been a special order , but doubt it.
OP can get HIN and give it to Chris , we can all know the low down.:wink_thumbup:

I found out it is a Z189. Looks like a rebuilt engine would cost between $5000 and $6000. Not sure how I am going to proceed as of yet.

If you are mechanically inclined you may be able to do the engine swap yourself. The long block is only $2200 plus shipping...

No such thing as a Mariah Z189. There was a Z182 and a Z183 in '97. Last two digits of the serial number gives you the model year. Take a pic or two or three of the boat while your there.

I meant Z198, at least that is what the trailer says on it. As far as the engine goes I could swap out all of accessories but the removal and installation would be an issue. I found a long block in Dallas for $2300 and a shop to do the swap for $1800. Weighing the options. Boat is $700 plus engine is another $4100 at the least, by the time I get done around $5000.
