Fuel filling problem- ideas please!

We have bought a 1999 mariah 5.5 Shaba . It's fine except we can't get more than 10 litres of fuel in at once. After ten litres it overflows, has anyone had the same problem- and a solution please! Is there a fuel vent and if so how do we check it.
Thanks, look forward to replies

Fuel vent is located on the transom and is usually a small round black thingy. Are you filling the boat with fuel while in the water or on the trailer? Although i haven't heard anyone complain about this problem for a while now it is usually because of the angle of the boat causing an air pocket in the gas tank when filling. Try lowering the front of the boat next time you fill up. If you're on the water, you and your friends need to move right up into the bow. If on the trailer, simply lower it.

btw...welcome aboard!

ps...just dont let the gas pump jockey stand on your swim deck while filling the boat.....
